Jus Alpukat (Avocado Juice) and Es Teler (Fruit Cocktail).
Had these at an Indonesian Nasi Padang restaurant a while back and I couldn’t resist sharing this with you.
Avocado juice is the green colour concoction on the left if you’re wondering. It’s thick and milkshake like. I was a bit hesitant to try it because avocado and juice are not synonymous in my beverage dictionary. But by god it is heavenly! So here’s my take on it:
1 avocado, peeled and cubed
250ml water
3tbsp sugar
2tbsp condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
5 ice cubes
Chocolate syrup (optional)
Blitz all the ingredients (except chocolate syrup) in a blender or food processor. Lace the glass with some chocolate syrup, pour the juice in the glass and top it off with more chocolate syrup.
The fruit cocktail is apparently an Indonesian national drink (so I’ve been told, don’t quote me on this). It is made up of strips of young coconut, avocado, jackfruit and sago (cooked with red colouring). It is served on top of ice shavings, generously drizzled with coconut milk and condensed milk.
My sugar level spiked up because of this. But it’s worth it.
