Sun (Oven) Dried Tomatoes.
Do you know that sun dried tomatoes are expensive here in Malaysia? It’s because they are all imported. Considering that we live in a tropical country with scorching hot sun almost all day long, I’m surprised it is not locally produced. We produce dried salted fish but no sun dried tomatoes, hmmpff.
Anyway, I found a way to make some but using the oven, which will take about 12 hours roughly compared to 2 days drying it out under the sun.
Just be aware that not all tomatoes will dry at the same rate. They do not have the same amount of moisture, nor do they experience the same temperature and air circulation while drying.
To know if they are done, it should be dry but also pliable - something like dried apricot. If dried too long, they become tough and leathery. If not dried long enough, it will mould unless packed in olive oil. So watch them carefully while they dry. Try to remove them on an individual basis before they become tough.
Here’s the recipe.
Warning: Do this only when you have absolutely nothing to do with tonnes of time to kill.
Mango Chutney.
Yes, lately I’ve been a little bit obsessed about chutneys. I like chutneys, they are the perfect condiment to almost any food - chicken, beef, seafood, vegetables. So you don’t have to subject yourself to boring ketchup and chilli sauce.
Ok, I must warn you thought that this one requires a little bit of time and patience. But the result, ah-mazing!

Lontong for breakfast!
I don’t normally eat such heavy, coconut milk laden food for breakfast but there’s an order for it so mommy left some for us.
I’ve tried cooking this once, but it is something I avoid if I can! The kuah lodeh (yellow gravy) requires many ingredients and too many steps to prepare this, Not to mention the condiments (ketupat, kuah kacang, sambal) that goes together with the kuah lodeh.
P.S. The photo quality is not so good because I used my camera phone.
